Minta wIth an axe

 It’s important that I push myself and try. Be brave. Learn. Everything. Every painting is hard. Just think of it as learning a new lesson each painting. For the Minta painting, I’m learning how to paint a sunset on water from a distance. So far, the non obvious or “magic color” that helps it look accurate has been a green that I make with naples yellow and aqua marine. It looks great on the island part.

I need to solve the problem of her head being a top down view but on a bottom up view on the body. I think if I get her neck ok, it will be passable.

This is where I took this painting. I couldn’t get the hands because of the small size as well aa the lighting differences from the images I combined.

I like my use of red and I like the horse’S forelock.
