Surge!

My frame came in the mail early! I no longer have to scratch out of the Festival. Here it is in the sauna drying. I bring it to the Mountlake Library tomorrow. It gets adjudicated on Sunday and the sales are on the following weekend until Oct 7th. I get to have an artist party and award ceremony next Friday. Wish me luck!

I couldn’t sleep I was so excited about my art show this weekend (sept 15th 3-7pm arts of snohomish) so I painted until 2am.

This is for Grilla Bites. I wanted to paint something for Anne. This is the first layer of her daughter. My goals are to: add brown, blue, more detail, and layers.

My horse painting isn’t going so well yet. Here it is after two weeks. Pasting my horses’s head on a Percheron’s body at the wrong angle is a tricky one lol!

I am trying to finish tonight! Shrimp cocktails for tomorrow’s art show can wait.

It might take a lifetime to get it perfect, but I just tried to make good choices. The glass parts are glossy, the curtain and metal are dull with a bit of metallic. I tried to put most detail in the center and draw the eyes to the right and down.

You know in Star Trek 2 and 3, 🖖 the Cobayashi Maru? I broke two rules, but that’s what it took to get here.

Framing Fun

I plein air painted for two sessions last year during a camping trip. Today, I had it framed and it looks glorious!

I had to reframe the fresnel lens because it fell off the wall and broke.

This is the new one that was more expensive and got damaged on the way here. I discounted the price and colored in the chips with a sharpie, because I don’t have time to go back to that store. Black is probably better.

I ordered a custom two tone metallic frame for the original.

Unfortunately, that custom frame is still in transit and won’t arrive in time for the Arts of the Terrace adjudicated festival, so I to scratch.

This enables me to keep working on it, get a professional scan, and raise my price.
