Happy Accident

When I was attempting to improve the eyes, Lana drew on my painting and I'll probably leave it because it tells a story. It was surprisingly good for a three year old and very centralized with a great display of fine motor skills. Shall I chalk this up to a happy accident?

I'm getting a bit frustrated because I'm noticing that I didn't get a lot of propertions right and my art could probably be classified as Bad Art. Cry. Taking a break.

With this pic I realized that I have her skull wrong. This painting might take a lot longer than I thought. I don't even know what to do about the rays of light.  Her eyes aren't right yet even though I spent all morning redoing them.

Cheer me on

I'm doing the super hard part now: making ot look real.

I'll keep pushing it until it's as good as I can get it. I'm going to let everything go until I get her looking legit (otherwise what's the point).

All I have skills-wise are: my eyes and patience and determination (which is patience I realize). TWO SKILLS! "Skills". hahhaahhaha

Ho man, one time my art teacher went around the room asking every student, what percentage is talent, what percentage is patience etc. and I was the only one to get it right. He saved me for the end and it was glorious.

Hopefully I lined everything up enough to set myself up for success. Sigh. It's not going to be easy, but I do love the process. I love doing it. I love being brave enough to try and eventually getting a little bit of success that no one's ever had before.

Wish me the best, though cuz I've never pushed this large of an oil painting this far before.

Tricks I can use: step back, look at it upside down, squint, compare it to pictures, create pictures of myself doing the pose, look up youtube tutorials, take breaks, take pictures and look at a smaller version, and... do a dance -keeping it fun.

Thank you!

haha dammit I now see that I have to move my left eye to the right. Of course I'll dot that because I'm SO BRAVE!!!! I wish I had a buddy to tell me what parts are off so it doesn't take me so long. I could just project it, but I owe it to myself to be 100% proud of my accomplishment. Go me.
